Third annual conference for the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission
The 2024 edition, of the Cities Mission Conference, ‘Empowering Cities – the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission in Action’, will be held in Valencia, a member of the UPPER project, on 25-26 June 2024.
This is the third annual conference for the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. The European Commission and NetZeroCities invite Mission City mayors and practitioners, representatives of national and regional authorities, and others to connect and engage on Mission-critical concepts and ideas. This event is invitation-only and is organised by the European Commission and the Mission Platform. It will bring together political representatives and practitioners from the 112 Mission Cities to celebrate the Mission's progress, share valuable insights and experiences, and inspiration.
On June 25 and 26 UPPER will be present at the conference sharing a booth with 'sister project' Spine as both contribute to achieving the CIVITAS Initiative's and the EU Mission's goals: Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities. A great opportunity for UPPER members and cities to attend the Peer-to-peer exchange session on transport.
UPPER Coordinator UITP Mircea Steriu commented “I am delighted to be part of this year’s Cities Mission Conference. This forum is a great opportunity to remind decision-makers at all levels of the contribution sustainable mobility – particularly a focus on innovative public transport – can make to reaching climate ambitions. The packages of measures from the UPPER project sites can be replicated in many other settings, we are very happy to share our experience with all attendees to this event, deepening our cooperation with similar initiatives across the continent.”
Valencia will also host the fourth project Hackathon next 10-11 June, as well as the net UPPER General Assembly on June 26 and 27
