UPPER HACKATHON MANNHEIM 2024

it's #UPPERHACKATHON time again!

After the successful event in Rome and Oslo, hackathonians will now be heading to Stadt Mannheim, Eu Mission label awarded, between 12-13 March 2024.

UPPER partners, along with the Youth For Public Transport (Y4PT) Foundation, are looking for bright minds who could help advance this transition, benefitting all citizens. We are inviting any young professional, student, or start-up to participate!

We invite students and young professionals with an interest in technology, design, creativity, innovation, digitalization, and business development, who can contribute to improving mobility for the public, to a 2-day hackathon. Are you interested in transforming your city into a more sustainable one?

"Mannheim‘s public transport of the future is to become even more climate-friendly and customer-oriented. To achieve this, we need innovative and fresh ideas to move forward in this process. The 3rd Upper-Hackathon in Mannheim offers an ideal opportunity to enter into dialogue and help create the transport of the future"

The hackathon was held at the Improlab on the twelfth floor of the Technical Town Hall Mannheim, featuring a spectacular view of the city and its transport infrastructure, setting the theme for the challenges to come.

Multinational and multidisciplinary teams of students, developers, entrepreneurs, and creators were invited to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions to collaborate in transforming public transport. The three challenges revolved around creating attractive and climate-resilient stops, developing data-driven use cases to improve the passenger experience, and promoting the use of public transport, as well as optimizing public transport services.

Over the course of two days, the four teams worked on their approaches and ideas under the guidance of Youth for Public Transport as well as local experts as mentors. The newly developed solutions were then presented to an interdisciplinary jury that selected the winning teams and awarded prizes.

Members: Jonas Gehrig, Marcel Nägle. 🥈 2nd place: Team/Project “Nightcruiser” (Night public transport service optimization).
