To promote more sustainable choice of transport for students based on their modal split patterns
This measure aims to promote sustainable travel among students by encouraging the use of public transport and active mobility, while reducing car traffic near schools. Recognising the importance of early habit formation, BKK seeks to influence students’ mindset towards environmentally conscious mobility choices. To support this, BKK will conduct a modal split study across 20–30 schools using a systemic, location-based approach — analysing factors such as school geography, public transport availability, demographics, and behavioural influences like weather or inherited car-dependent routines. Based on the results, BKK will identify critical age groups and develop tailored educational materials and campaigns. The impact will be assessed to refine the methodology and support broader school-zone planning efforts.
