To reduce travel times through the implementation of traffic light priority for public transport
This measure consists of a pilot initiative based on the installation of a radio-frequency detection sensor to support bus traffic light priority and assess its effects on other road users. The system will detect approaching buses and communicate with traffic light infrastructure to provide priority at intersections, thereby improving bus progression, reducing travel times and increasing the efficiency and attractiveness of public transport services. In parallel, the measure will monitor traffic conditions to evaluate the impact of bus prioritisation on private vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. This will enable the city to assess whether the intervention improves overall mobility performance or generates undesired delays for other users. By combining priority activation with multimodal traffic monitoring, the measure contributes to the development of a more balanced, efficient and sustainable urban mobility system.
