Improving the efficiency of the bus service and comfort of public transport users

The measure introduces an AI-based onboard system designed to improve the efficiency of bus operations and enhance passenger comfort by providing detailed insights into passenger flows and vehicle occupancy. Using cameras and edge computing installed on buses, the system automatically detects, tracks, and re-identifies passengers, enabling precise identification of boarding and alighting events. These detections are combined with GPS data to generate high-resolution Origin–Destination matrices and real-time occupancy levels. This supports more informed service planning and operational adjustments, contributing to a more efficient and comfortable public transport service.
