#RomaGiocaSostenibile 2015-2025 Celebrating a decade of achievements and teamwork.

The 2025 edition marks the 25th birthday of the 6 Nations since Italy joined and completed the line-up in 2000.

Through the years the popularity of the Championship has never been greater, and fans are responding. In 2024, 185 million fans tuned in across 64 countries to watch the action, whilst 4 million social media followers drove 615 million video views. This lays the foundations for another unmissable 2025 Championship.

As Italy and Wales's rugby teams prepare to clash this Saturday at Rome's Olympic Stadium, the 2025 edition also commemorates another significant milestone: #RomaGiocaSostenibile turns 10 or X, as the ancient Romans would have said. Launched in 2015, by Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, it is the brainchild of Francesco Iacorossi, who serves as UPPER’s Dissemination Manager. He came up with the idea during his tenure as a former Senior Project Manager for Rome's mobility agency.

"As a native of Rome, a mobility expert, and a former rugby player, I've often pondered how the synergy of public transport and sports can create a positive ripple effect throughout the city. The Six Nations rugby tournament presented us with the ideal opportunity to put this concept into action. Together with Roma Servizi, we have continued to support this initiative ever since. It is both possible and essential to alleviate the pressures that sporting events place on urban environments," Iacorossi explains.

Over the years, the initiative has received support from Roma Capitale and the Italian Rugby Federation, Eurocities as well as numerous EU-funded projects promoting public transport and active mobility measures. Notable projects include P.A.S.T.A., Handshake, and Bicycle Heroes, with the addition of UPPER in 2023.
