Lisbon’s Navegante® App awarded Product of the Year 2025
We've written about the hard work of UPPER project partners TML and Carris in the past, today though we are happy to celebrate the longed-for recognition of Lisbon's transport mobility app Navegante.
The recognition of the Navegante® App, based on direct consumer evaluation, underscores its status as an indispensable solution for mobility. Its standout features include exceptional usefulness, efficiency, and a commitment to modernizing services. Since its launch in June 2024, the app has experienced remarkable growth, achieving over 300,000 installations and facilitating more than 300,000 pass top-ups within just nine months. By October, the app had garnered the trust of more than 75,000 users, highlighting its significant role in supporting the mobility needs of citizens in their daily lives.
This award is a testament to the positive impact that the Navegante® App has had on mobility and the user experience and convenience. Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa will continue to innovate and improve the user experience of the Navegante® App, simplifying and streamlining access to mobility even further.
Growth and Impact
The Navegante® App has shown consistent growth, driven by effective communication strategies and targeted campaigns:
164% growth in top-ups (free and paid) in July, driven by the impact of launch communication.
Sustained increase in downloads (free and paid) in August (22%) and September (77%), driven by the 'nominated films' campaign that reduced queues and made it easier for young people to download free titles.
In November and compared to October, the reinforcement of communication in the communication strategy focused on users over 23 years of age resulted in a growth of 159% in the paid titles segment alone.
Currently, the Navegante® App represents 21% of all top-ups made through Navegante® channels, managed by Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, which include Multibanco ATMs, Navegante® Spaces, Payshop agents, Navegante® Business App and Navegante® Points. This performance reinforces the role of digitalization in modernizing services and improving the user experience.
